Join the Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies (MIGS) in welcoming Kareem Shaheen, the former Middle East and Turkey correspondent for The Guardian. He will discuss his work in covering the Syrian civil war and the failed coup attempt in Turkey. He holds a master’s in war studies from King’s College London, and was previously based in Istanbul, Beirut and Abu Dhabi. Shaheen received a Frontline Club Award nomination in print journalism for his coverage of the Khan Sheikhun chemical attack.
